Salilboats Galore at Fundy

Until two days ago I hadn't seen a single sailboat at the Fundy boat launch, where I'm spending alot of time on this summer's Milfoil education program. Then, two days ago, I saw my first one... yesterday, the second... then today we hit the jackpot: four sailboats.

The most charismatic of them all was Joe Brunault's home built Weekender II: "Reflection". Here are some pictures of it.

that quite a big boat for such a small sale,
fundy is very shallow, wonder how well they navigated out to the lake

In response to Dave: The boat only drafts ten inches of water with the rudder up. The sails are more than adequate in steady winds. They appear smaller than they are in the picture on this page.

The shallow draft is one of the main reasons why I built Reflection. She handles very well on small ponds and in shallow areas. She is essentially a "puddlejumper". Another advantage to this boat is that she comes about very quickly compared to other designs.

Thanks very much to Jack for the favorable writeup and for posting the pictures; we will be printing them.

Jack's boat is a Commet,
It has something like a 15' mast.
It is the only boat I have ever sailed,
and capsized !
Far too big of a boat for beginers like Jack and myself.
