Pick a penny, any penny

12 things that look like pennies (the infamous U.S. one cent piece) can you pick the one that is real?

I picked the right one, then talked myself out of it and clicked on the wrong one.

[Thanks j-walk]

My pick was right. Not my first instinct, but after looking at all of them several times, I picked the right one. Chalk one up for me.

I quickly picked A, then thought about it for awhile, and decided, no, J is really the correct answer.

Interestingly, last night's Bravo episode of West Wing had the "Why do we keep pennies" argument, and they say we keep them because it's another example of pandering to a state -- in this case Illinois who wants the penny retained because that's the home to Lincoln, and since Illinois is typically a valuable swing state in terms of presidential elections no one wants to piss them off. It's kinda like we keep screwing over Cuba with embargoes even though pretty much every political and foreign affairs expert agrees that the embargo helps Castro a lot more than it hurts him since it gives him the perfect scapegoat to explain the failures of his governement. If there was no embargo to blame the economic problems on, the Cubans would rightly blame their leader. But the Miami Cubans are soooo determined to never give an inch, even the perception of an inch to Castro, they demand the embargo continues, and since Florida is the most famous swing vote of presidential elections, there is a lot of pandering to that view. It will be interesting to see what is about to happen -- Congress might just pass a law easing up on the embargo, and Bush has threatened to veto it. Considering the Jeb connection and the whole election result thing, I wonder how a veto would play out.

The interesting thing about the Lincoln comes from Illinois argumnet is that they also have him on the five. So they are just being greedy and I say screw the Illinoisians. Dump the penny. Then dump the embargo against Cuba.

Oh, I picked the wrong penny. I went for the one that almost looks real but has LIBRETY missing. And it pissed me off to be wrong.
