Good line.

But this guy is actually very different from the previous guy whose name must not be mentioned.

Apparently the new guy is VERY into the whole, heavy-duty reliance on stats, that the owners like. It'll be interesting.

I heard that he wasn't really a stats guy but a players coach.

I heard that he wilkl listen to what management wants him to do and not do it all on his own.

This means listening to the stats guy, and probably installing a phone from the owners box down in the dugout.

I wonder if Curt Schilling will have an internet connection installed in that place in the outfiled where the pitchers hang out.

I hear Schilling is a pretty tech-savvy guy. He probably won't need an internet connection installed, he's probably got all sorts of wifi-enabled PDAs and laptops.
