Are there ping pong balls in heaven?

AP via Yahoo!:

Bob Keeshan, who gently entertained and educated generations of children as television's walrus-mustachioed Captain Kangaroo, died Friday at 76.

He used to read me the story about the steam shovel that dug the foundation hole for a new building, and then ended up staying there to heat the building and its occupants.

He also read me the one about the cottage on a quiet country lane. And how as the years went by, more and more buildings were constructed, until the little cottage was surrounded by huge skyscrapers and traffic. Then the grandson of cottage's builder appeared, put the cottage on a trailer, and moved it back out into the country.

This was very sad news. Last year, Fred Rogers, and now Captain Kangaroo. The world will never be the same.

If you have a couple of ping pong balls lying around (and who doesn't), say a few words for Captain Kangaroo and throw the ping pong balls up to the sky!

Now, if you don't have ping pong balls, but happen to have a few golf balls, that will do just as well... er, no maybe that would be dangerous... but... what if you accidently aimed them at that bratty kid down the street who keeps teasing the neighbor's old dog... hmm... (Okay, okay, I know, Captain Kangaroo wouldn't approve of that.)

Sad day, indeed. And Ann Miller's gone, too... :-(
