A beautiful shining

Gone East pal Rob H sent me the link to this pretty amazing photo gallery. Elena is a Russian woman who rides her Ninja motorcyle through the abandoned lands around the Chernobyl nuclear reactor.

I travel a lot and my favorite destination lead through so called Chernobyl "dead zone" It is 130kms from my home. Why favourite? because one can ride there for hours and not meet any single car and not to see any single soul. People left and nature is blooming, there are beautiful places, woods, lakes. Roads haven't been built or repaired since 80th but in places where they haven't been ridden by trucks or army technics, they stay in the same condition as 20 years ago. Time do not ruin roads.

Early on in looking at these, I was planning on making a joke about how attractive this woman, with her fast bike, is. By the end of the pics and her commentary, the sadness and tragedy of the whole thing... well, no joke.

FYI...A colleague tried sending this link to some AOL addresses and AOL's mail server rejected his mail, citing that the URL had received a high volume of complaints. Seems odd that AOL has taken it upon themselves to ban people from talking about this site.

By the way... Hi Rob. Thanks. Difficult as this is, it's worth taking the time to peruse.
