My boys at UCLA pull one out

I missed most of last night's March Madness game between Gonzaga and my final four pick, UCLA. UCLA was down by one point with about 20 seconds to play. The Bruins had apparently been behind for the whole game, once by as much as 17 points.

They were into that final-seconds-struggle-to-stay-alive-hoping-for-a-miracle thing that you see in lots of b-ball games. With like 10 secs left UCLA lost possession to Gonzaga and it seemed like it was all over.

Then UCLA stole the ball and made a basket to go ahead by one, for the first time in the game.

With only a few secs left, Gonzaga tried a long pass down the length of the court for a quick basket to retake the lead. The ball bounced off the backboard, missing the basket. UCLA wins. They are now into the "Elite Eight".

My Dad has never liked basketball. He says that most of a basketball game is irrelevant, and that the only part that matters is the final 60 seconds. He's right.

My other two surviving FF picks, BC and UConn, play tonight.
