Red sox climbing back

redsoxcirc100The Red Sox' win this afternoon was satisfying. Together with last night's strong showing, my faith is re-strengthening.

But let's be clear about one thing: The Fox Network announcer nearly wet himself with excitement about a bottom-of-the-ninth winning run. Leading up to that moment he was frothing at the mouth, hoping for one of the redsox' trademark "walk-off-hits". But that wasn't a walk-off hit.

Manny did get a good clean hit single (and thus continues his impressive hitting streak). But Manny's hit did not drive in the run. The run came in on the error by the left fielder. If he hadn't bobbled the ball the runner would have been held at third.

It was a "walk-off-error". Which is right up there with the "walk-off-walk".

UPDATE: AP calls it a "last at-bat victory".
