Dropped the ball...

I'm back from my 10 day biz trip....

I sorta expected that you guys would have had Spring up and running by now. But it's colder than ever!

Do I have to do everything myself?

From the Big Apple

I'm doing meetings today on the 31st floor of 1 New York Plaza. This it is the absolute southernmost skyscraper on Manhattan.

Awesome views of the harbor with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the distance. I'll post some pics eventually.

Are you funnier than a fifth-grader?

If large-breasted women work at Hooters. Where do one-legged women work?

Select from here...I-hop.... to here to see answer.

Once Upon A Time

I think I've always under-rated Scott Bakula.

I can feel it in the air.

Today is the first (more or less) official day of baseball spring training.

Today, Pitchers and Catchers report for training and things start rolling.

Yay!

Attacks!

Yesterday there were 221 attempts to place spam in the comments area of this blog. 160 so far today.

All but a handful were blocked automatically be my spam filter. Still, it really annoys me.

Now the story can be told...

My Mom reads this blog, so I didn't want to mention this 'til it was all fixed.

But the other thing I woke up to this morning, down here in my parent's old house, is that the oil burner had stopped doing its thing.

I noticed that it was a bit chilly when I got up, and adjusting the thermostat didn't fire up the furnace.

A quick look downstairs revealed a sinister looking red light on the burner control box.

I called the service people, and (bless their hearts) they arrived at my door in about 2 hrs.

Turns out, the "nozzle" was clogged. He replaced it, and all was well (and warming up) again.

Damage: $72

Tis the season...

I neglected to point this out on the day, but this past Saturday was a big seasonal milestone.

The redsox equipment truck left Fenway on it's annual migration down to Ft. Myers Florida for Spring Training.

Pitchers and Catchers report this Thursday.

Play Ball!

So why do they call it Global Warming?

I was doing so well on my prediction about morning temps. But the signs were all there last night, and I woke up this morning to a disappointing 14F here in Melrose.

Tomorrow morning's supposed to be cold too. Maybe then we can start our way upward.

Fat Tuesday

I didn't head far enough south. I should have gone all the way to the Big Easy.

Today is Fat Tuesday, aka Mardi Gras.

Hi from Charlotte NC

Arrived safely in Charlotte North Carolina. I'm here for two days of meetings. We get started doing prep in a half hour, then work all day tomorrow.

I'm told we have 1700 pounds of MacBooks on a palette waiting for us somewhere. Gonna go find them.

On my way down here, we changed planes in NYC. They're already selling NYGiants Superbowl Champs t-shirts in the airport store.

Sean Casey, Redsox backup 1st base

This guy looks like he might be fun.

Boston Globe:

The Red Sox today agreed to one-year, $800,000 deal with lefthanded hitting first baseman Sean Casey, pending a physical.

Casey will serve primarily in a backup role to Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis. Casey is known as "the mayor" around the major leagues because of his outgoing personality.

The Sox see th veteran Casey as someone who will embrace the backup role as well as be a great addition to the clubhouse.

Ch-ch-changes!

Starting next week I'll be working with a new client, who is going to be keeping me pretty busy, and I'll be doing a lot of traveling.

I'll be doing special-event and technical support for marketing events, like sales meeting, trade-show booths, and training sessions.

Next week I'm headed down to Charlotte NC for two days, then it's back up to Wellesley MA.

Some of the places I'm scheduled to travel to in the next couple months are upstate NY, NYC, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia.

It will be quite a change for me. I'm looking forward to it. It will be good to not spend all my time sitting at the keyboard in my home office.

And I'm hoping it will expose me to more opportunities for blogging material. I'll be taking lots of pics, and writing about what I see.

Stay tuned.
