in session

Since last Thursday, most of us here in Red Sox Nation are in therapy. Dealing with loss. One way I've been coping is through denial. I've been avoiding posting baseball references.

But here's one. Red Sox Haiku. "Going, going, gone / In the eleventh inning / Winter has begun"

You know, I'm okay. And I have been. It was tough watching that 7th game, but maybe my heart has gotten used to the tapdance that the Sox do on it every so often. I used the Red Sox games as an on-going story line in this newsletter I send out to my 400 students, and so a lot of them came by to offer me their sympathy the next day. The knowledgeable ones would mention that Grady was wrong to leave Pedro in so long and the proof of my being okay was that I just don't have it in me to give Grady a hard time. I'm not going to doubt the decision he made -- I just wished it turned out better.

But I don't focus on the Sox losing. My focus is on the fact that the Yankees are thugs and cheaters. THUGS AND CHEATERS! The two bullpen thugs are going to get charged by the Boston Police for going after that groundskeeper. I mean, the poor guy has cleat marks on his back. THUGS. And Giambi has been caught in the steroid scandal coming out of SF. CHEATER.

Thugs and cheaters --- that's what the Yankees are and that's what I'm focusing on.

That and the fact that Rush Limbaugh is a (Mom alert: Bad word coming) fucking hypocrite if he doesn't plead guilty and go to jail. Oooooh, I am so enjoying this one. If you don't read Boondocks, you should, and today's episode was:

Caesar: I know it's wrong to take joy in the suffering of others, but I'm thrilled that Rush Limbaugh is a drug fiend.

Huey: Who told you that?

Caesar: You haven't heard?! IT's been all over the news for weeks.

Huey: No. I meant who told you it was wrong to take joy in the suffering of others?

How can I be bummed about the Sox when I can take Joy in Rush going to the big house, where he can share a cell with other thugs and cheaters?
