Survivor player overview.

[No spoilers here]

I always struggle in the first few weeks of a new Survivor season, to keep track of who's who, and in which tribe. Even though we met all these people before, I put together this chart to help me see the tribes, and the players' pasts.

(The number after the location is the season number, and the final column is the Survivor website's way of describing their finish just to make sure I translated the finish position correctly. The asterisks mark the players that I think are the heavyweights)

Chapera
AliciaAustralia (2)9th8th out

*Boston RobMarqesas (4)10th7th out

First impressions

  • Lots of "Australians".
  • Saboga has two pair of "old friends", Chapera has one pair, Moga none.
  • Saboga and Moga each have two past winners, Chapera only one.
  • Average previous finish of tribe members: Chapera 6, Saboga 4.8, Moga 3.3

I was thinking that they brought *Boston Rob back because he gives such GREAT interviews!

I was really sorry to see Tina voted off...not that I wanted her to win necessarily, but its sad to see her gone. Hey are they complaining already...and I thought I saw Alicia's finger wagging at someone. Rupert looks so alone and friendless...he looks so sad. Sue is to mean to get sick from bad water. Besides Rudy had some too, not as much as Sue, but he did have some.

Why did Jeff make that comment to Richard about having fire already...I dont remember, is he magic or something. I think we've seen enough of his nudity, we get it...he does things for shock value. I get the feeling that the girls like him though...except maybe for Shi Ann

I think that Jeff's question to Richard about fire was an attempt to out Richard for saying in confessional that he could easily make fire, but he was gonna let them struggle.

Couldn't they have chosen better names? I swore one of the tribes was named "Ugga Bugga" and another one "Shapiro."

This is so much fun! Since we know everyone right off the bat, it does make for a totally different kind of game to watch.

It was sad how Tina was gone first. Jenna L. had such an attitude at tribal council that I was hoping Rupert and Rudy would vote her out, but I guess they figured Jenna L. would do better in the challenges than Tina. Plus, Rupert and Rudy would have determined who they were voting for prior to the council.

I think it's funny how everyone was saying that they were not going to make the same mistakes, but in just one day we saw a lot of them go right back to their true personalities! Hey, better entertainment for us! Alicia definitely had her finger waggin' again and that whole argument about building a decent shelter versus getting fire...

Sue is cracking me up! She is so out there. I thought it was hysterical how she was laying around after she chugged down FOUR cups of polluted water and everyone called her over to join in the reading of the tree mail and she's yelling in the distance "Just read it louder!" That was so funny.

Anyway, love 'em or hate 'em -- it's good to have these guys back!

It is good to see them again...and even though Richard is annoying and obnoxious he is so fun to watch. He brings new definition to the word obnoxious. I really hope he lasts a while. You know the other thing...I stayed up specially to watch it on Sunday night, til midnight, and then they annouce that they are rerunning it tonight...how rude!!!!!

Posted by: Jo Ann on February 3, 2004 06:22 PM

Yes, Richard is so obnoxious, but so entertaining at the same time. Does anyone on this planet have as big an ego as Richard? I'm not quite sure of his strategy yet, but I'm interested to see what happens...

Beth: It's better that you stayed up to watch Survivor after the Super Bowl or you would have risked hearing about it before you watched! Geesh, that is late for the East Coast, can't they start the game a little earlier?

Okay, maybe I'm taking this Survivor thing a tad too seriously. :-)

If we played "Survivor" during our Tahoe weekends, who do you think would have been voted off first?

After that parcheesi game, I imagine Jo Ann would have been organizing an alliance against Rick.

Posted by: Jo Ann on February 3, 2004 08:27 PM

    hmm... interesting idea...

Actually, I wouldn't have tried to oust Rick after that game. I don't think. :-)

It is an interesting idea to think of all the Tahoe trips, who would get voted off and in what order... hmm...

This does bring to mind though just how much Sherman is like Richard. Really. A lot.

Trust me Jo Ann. If you vote with me against Rick, I'll take you to the final two.

Posted by: Jo Ann on February 4, 2004 03:18 AM

    Hmm... intriiiiiigueing idea. Hmm...

Trust Sherman. Therein lies the question, er, problem, er, question, er, problem, er...

Ok I have a question...I was watching Survivor again last night (they showed it again for those who were dedicated enough to stay up on Sunday). So when the tribes came to the immunity challenge and saw for the first time who else was there...there were a number of survivors who were glad to see that Rupert was there. I thought that they hadnt had a chance to see Ruperts survivor series before they were sent to the All Star Survivor...so how did they know Ruperts rep. I mean Alicia said something to the effect "the big guy is here, let the games begin".

Posted by: RickF on February 4, 2004 04:44 PM

Actually, about half the season of Survivor 7 aired prior to the "All-Stars" departure for their adventure. I know this because Lex (who is at All-Star) was writing a column on the most recent Survivor for a newspaper in Santa Cruz. His columns mysteriously stopped mid-season, clearly because he left for the shows we're starting to see now.

So all the old Survivor folks would have been pretty well exposed to Rupert before they arrived, which we saw in the first episode.

Joann...I have always found Sherm to be trustworthy... very weird sometimes, no most times, but trustworthy.

Posted by: Jo Ann on February 4, 2004 09:00 PM

Hey Beth thanks for the tip on Sherm!

Trustworthy in life... sure, definitely. And definitely weird! But trustworthy in a game? Did Sherm also promise you that he'd take you to the "final two", I wonder?!! Would he write down my name on the parchment paper? Hmm...

He's brutal in Parcheesi, that's for sure! :-)

Posted by: beth on February 5, 2004 08:22 AM

Funny I was thinking that later on..I trust him in life, and I trust him to not be mean, but would I trust him on Survivor with 1 Mil at stake...probably not.

Posted by: Jo Ann on February 5, 2004 03:29 PM

    Exactly! ;-)
